The Amphibious
Swim Challenges
Disciplines learned through swimming are also great life lessons including:
Perseverance, teamwork, focusing on self-improvement and not comparing yourself to others (an especially important one in the digital age of social media), and more!
Tues. Jan. 20, 2026 - PRESENT: Amphibious writer/exec. producer Kurt Krauss is currently swimming the 30 for 30 Swim Challenge to help raise money for his cousin Andrew's courageous road to recovery. Andrew successfully received treatment for struggles with mental health and addiction through Rogers Behavioral Health. He is now continuing his healing journey through Roots Recovery in Milwaukee, WI. In celebration of Andrew's first 30 Days of Sobriety, Krauss began swimming 30 Miles to help meet expenses for Andrew's sober living program as part of a much larger fundraising effort organized by his family.
Swim Challenges are a fun way to raise awareness about a particular cause as well as means of raising money to help!

Sat. Aug. 23, 2025: Director of the Door County Triathlon Sean Ryan and Kurt Krauss swam the first Test Trial for Swim Death's Door. An initially anticipated 3 Mile Open Water Swim around Plum Island to Northport, WI, changing weather conditions including winds at 18 knots and 3 ft waves shortened the test trial from 3 Miles to 1.4 Miles. Swim Death's Door is currently an event in proposal, anticipating 2o26 for its first year of competition.
Fri. Oct. 4, 2024: The first of the Amphibious Swim Challenges took place when Kurt Krauss swam the half mile across the Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal. Krauss hoped it would be the first of many open water and distance swim challenges that could benefit individuals and organizations doing good things in our communities.
